Magical Ideas is an Austin-based art studio led by Tony Sansevero, specializing in a diverse array of personal works and commissions—including vivid and thought-provoking fine art, whimsical illustrations, soul-capturing portraits, and vibrant, colorful murals.

Tony has devoted most of his adult life to working in various fields of art.

“There was never a time I remember wanting to be anything other than an artist, or doing anything besides creating the imaginary creatures I discovered in the storybooks and movies that brought them to life.”

Tony’s first published book illustrations appeared when he was just 14, after he was invited to create pen-and-ink drawings for a book about sunken ships off the eastern coast of the United States.

His first full-time art job was at 19, designing and building parade floats, then a detail artist for an art printing company, a 25 year career in commercial art, where he created children's book illustration, book covers, portraiture and murals.

With covid came the stark reminder of life's impermanence, and with it, a need to add more personal work, which he added to his long list of creative endeavors.

Meet the Artist

Austin Studio

Would you like a tour of my studio? Visitors are always welcome, but we do have one condition, that you don't feel pressured to buy any art.
Of course if something sings to you, I'd love to give it a good home, but more so I'd like you to enjoy the experience. I enjoy meeting people who appreciate art in all it's forms.
Browse through the art-filled rooms, or stroll through the Zen Garden, which is also filled with art and sculpture.
If you're lucky enough to visit during the month of October, you'll see my walk-though Halloween Haunted House, which I've created for the neighborhood and visitors since 2000.
I'm located in north central Austin. Contact me for a visit. By appointment only.
